• Product type/ size: you need to consider the size or type of goods you will be handling with your forklift, it is not advisable to use a low capacity forklift  in lifting a product that exceeds it’s load capacity. There’s a possibility of an accident happening.

• Location: would you be using the forklift outdoor or indoor? You need to understand where your operating environment will be, this knowledge helps in determining the type of tyres to be used. Polyurethane tires cannot and should not be used outdoors, they are only installed on electric forklifts that are used on smooth interior pavements. Pneumatic tires are designed for outdoors and heavy duty lifting. There are also forklifts for rough terrains that are unstable, these forklifts are made to better maneuver such terrains.

• Height: another thing to consider is how high or low the level of lifting will be and if there are any lift height restrictions to be considered (like low hanging light or entrance barricades or parking lot entrance barricade, low entrance).
